OUR HISTORY

Since 1900, Greenberg’s Jewelers has maintained its mission, established by founder Jacob Greenberg, of providing the best diamonds, the best service and the best value.

“ J.H.,” as Jacob was known, came to America from Lithuania at age 13. He started his business in Sioux City, Iowa, by repairing watches in the front window of a crockery shop. Over the years, he began selling diamond rings and other jewelry. To survive the Great Depression, J.H. offered credit to his customers. Offering convenient credit is a practice that continues to this day.

J.H.’s son Ray joined Greenberg’s Jewelers in 1942. Together, they steadily built the store’s reputation for “giving customers the best value at a reasonable price.” In 1953, Ray’s wife Ann joined the business as treasurer.

Throughout the next four decades, Greenberg’s attractive combination of quality, value and service propelled the company into shopping mall locations in Iowa, South Dakota and Nebraska.

In the 1980s, a new generation of Greenbergs joined the thriving jewelry firm. Today, Amy Greenberg and Elise Greenberg, co-presidents of Greenberg's Jewelers, along with their spouses ensure that the company maintains its family tradition of quality, service and value in every aspect of their business.

In fact, Amy and Elise personally inspect every diamond sold at Greenberg's. So customers can be 100% confident of the sparkle, flash and, above all, the quality of every gemstone and setting.

As Amy and Elise like to say, Greenberg's customers can see the difference in every piece of jewelry - without paying the difference.

That's been the Greenberg's difference since J.H. opened his doors more than 100 years ago. With Amy and Elise as co-presidents, and Ray as chairman of the board, it will be the Greenberg's difference for a long time to come.
